Child of Mine by David and Beverly Lewis

This storyline is probably a mother's worse nightmare. To have your child taken from you and never knowing if he/she is okay would be awful. I imagine that I, just like Kelly, would never stop looking for my baby.

Nattie is just plain adorable. She's a spunky 9-year-old and full of life. Jack is a sweetheart of a man who doesn't have a lot of confidence when it comes to dating or girls. However, with Kelly he is the perfect gentleman. I admired him for what he does for Nattie and all he gave up to be her guardian... or dad-a-kins. He has such a special relationship with her. Laura was the perfect nanny, but I'm glad things ended the way they did. It was absolutely perfect.

David and Beverly Lewis have once again written a top notch novel. It's a story that pulls at your heart as you root for a mother whose heart has been broken. You understand some of her less-than-ethical approaches, knowing that you would be tempted to do some of the same things. Your heart aches for a girl who just wants a mom because her life has been turned upside down twice and people keep leaving. You also cheer for the man who steps out of his comfort zone to try to give Nattie the life she needs and wants. I don't think this story could have been told any better than it was. I found myself dreaming about this story at night!

A Dream of Home by Amy Clipston

Amy Clipston has been an author that I always enjoy. I keep track of when she has her new books coming out because I certainly don't want to miss a single one. She does a wonderful job moving the story along at a good pace, engaging the reader with just the right amount of detail, and using characters that are real and easy to relate to.

Madeline and Emma's relationship are probably one of my favorites. I understand why Saul might be a little cautious in letting Emma develop a close relationship with Madeline, but I'm glad that he finally relented. After all, she had so much that she could share with her. Both Madeline and Saul have faced major heartbreak and have had to grieve in their own ways. Moving on isn't easy for either of them, nor should it be. Despite never having been in their shoes, I felt like I was walking through these difficult trials with them.

Having read the previous books, I appreciated seeing some old faces and getting new updates on how they are doing. However, don't be deterred if you've missed the first two books in this series. You will easily be able to read this book and not feel as though you are missing out on anything.

Christmas at Rose Hill Farm by Suzanne Woods Fisher

As I finished the first couple of chapters in this book, I could tell already that I was not going to be happy if things kept on the path they were headed. I so wanted Bess to be with the one she loved,  Billy, and not the man she kept trying to love, Amos. Amos was a good man and treated her wonderfully, but I had a soft spot for Billy.

I liked the facts on the roses, but there were a few times where I felt that the story was a little bogged down because of those facts. It seemed to stall for a few sentences and then pick back up once it moved past the facts. That was just my opinion, though, as I was reading it. To real rose lovers, they probably loved those parts of the book the most.

I liked how the mysterious rose brought two people together and caused them to have to patiently wait as it prepared to bloom. It was sort of similar to the relationship Bess desired to have with a certain man. The story of reconciliation was a beautiful part of this Christmas story.

Swept Away by Laura V. Hilton and Cindy Loven

Don't we all know that grandmothers know best? They've been there, done that. This is exactly what Sara's grandmother hopes Sara will come to realize soon. After all, time is running out for her grandmother to see to it that Sara is happily married and taken care of. Having just been diagnosed with Alzheimer's, her future is uncertain. But one thing is certain... Sara needs someone to sweep her off her feet. And she knows just the person... if only Sara would cooperate with her.

Sara couldn't be less interested in the man that her grandmother deems as worthy of her granddaughter. He definitely didn't seem her type and he makes brooms. He's also nothing grand to look at, either, and might be just a tad bit scary looking. Andrew just wishes he didn't like Sara. Both are caught up in their first opinions that neither of them are willing to consider the possibility that things may not be as they seem. It was a good reminder on first impressions and not "judging a book by its cover."

Having just watched my parents be caretakers for my grandparents, this book hit home. The sacrifice, the joy, the struggles, and the decisions can all be overwhelming. It's something that they, nor I, would ever regret. I was very impressed with Sara and her attitude and love for her grandmother.

The book is a sweet romance that flowed so easily to the reader. As much as the romance was enjoyable to read about, the relationship between Sara and her grandmother were equally enjoyable.
This is a book that will have you thinking about your grandparents!

Love Without End by Robin Lee Hatcher

I am a big Robin Lee Hatcher fan. I was so glad to be back in Kings Meadow and to see Chet get a second chance. The story captured me right from the start and I had a hard time setting this book aside.

The book tells the story from 3 different character's perspectives. Chet shares his side, Kimberly shares hers, and then you get more of a back story from Anna. I liked Anna, but then again, who couldn't. She was a courageous girl led into the safety of a wonderful family.

Kimberly had seen her life fall apart after her husband's death. I was glad Janet, her best friend, was blunt and talked some sense into her. Her relationship with Tara hung in the balance with the wrong decision.

Chet seemed like a sweetheart. He was a hard-working cowboy that loved the ranch. His boys had a wonderful attitude, despite the way their mom treated them.  Instead of being angry, they worked hard.

Willie's Redneck Time Machine by John Luke Robertson and Travis Thrasher

My 6-year-old son was so excited when I got this book in the mail. He likes Duck Dynasty and was excited to go on an adventure. He carried this book with him everywhere and insisted that only he read this book to us. He did just that. It was fun to see such enthusiasm over a book.

I listened to this book read to me, so my opinion is more from my son's viewpoint. He really liked the "choose your own adventure" at the end of each chapter. I remember liking these type of books when I was younger, too, so I wasn't surprised that appealed to him so much. I think it also made the book go faster for him and he can still re-read it and have a new story each time.

I'm looking forward to getting him the whole set soon so he can read them all. It'll be the perfect present for him.

Taking God at His Word by Kevin DeYoung

I have long enjoyed the books that Kevin DeYoung has written. He has such a passion for the Lord and His Word and doesn't sugarcoat anything to make it easier to hear. I appreciate that about His writing. It's easy to do in today's culture where many want to hear things that make them feel better about themselves.

I appreciate the topic of this book because I know many who feel that the Bible is irrelevant to today. This whole book centers around what the Bible is, why it can be trusted, and it is relevant to us and our lives.

The other thing I greatly appreciated about this book was that Kevin DeYoung didn't spend time telling you why, in his opinion, we should take God at His Word. He uses God's Word to show you the importance of reading, knowing, loving, understanding, and applying His Word in our life.

I also liked how I didn't feel as if I was reading a theological book. It flowed easily and I found myself anxious to get back into reading the book. It also had me thinking about His Word constantly within the pages and I love anything that can take me back to the Bible.

Can't wait to see what topic is written about next!

The Manger Mouse by Sarah Martin Byrd

This is a cute book to read at Christmas. It's from the perspective of a little mouse who trusts his mother about what will be arriving in their stable. The preparation they go to for Jesus' arrival made me think about the preparation in my heart and the anticipation for Jesus' next arrival.

 

I liked how the baby mouse did the job that God created him to do. It was a good example to my children of how God uses different people for different purposes, but they are all needed. This little mouse was to keep Jesus warm in the manger. No one else could do that job because they couldn't fit through the hole. How beautiful it is to be reminded that even the smallest tasks are important to Jesus.

Becoming Bea by Leslie Gould

I have enjoyed everything about this series, from the look of the covers to the story inside. I'll admit that Bea was one that took me a bit longer than the others to enjoy, only because I had read the previous books. I was kind of surprised to find myself liking Bea more and Molly less in this book! I never would have thought that would happen.

I had to laugh at the competition between Ben and Bea because of the things they argued about. The spelling competition had me laughing because it was definitely a unique idea. I thought the whole poetry parts were sweet, though, even if Ben liked to use it to antagonize Bea.

Ben was one that I liked, despite knowing how he was treating Bea. I could tell that he just didn't quite know, and wasn't for sure, how to express himself to not only her, but to himself. In his own way, he was pretty sweet.

Knowing this is book 4, I don't know there will be any more in this series. I have enjoyed reading about the Courtships of Lancaster County. I can't wait to see what plans Leslie Gould has for her next book!

Pound Foolish by Neta and Dave Jackson

Neta Jackson will always hold a special place on my bookshelf. I've loved walking with her many different characters through real-life circumstances. I could relate so much to Book 3 in this series, so I was excited to see what unfolded with Book 4.

Greg Singer was a man that, sadly, is common in our culture. It was so hard to read though as I thought about his wife and all that frustration that she had with him. Not only that, but other topics in this book that are easy to relate to are the economy, money decisions, and hearing things that you want to hear vs. hearing what God is really saying.

I'm not certain what's planned next for the Jackson's, but I know I won't be disappointed by the real, tough issues that are brought up in their books. I also like how familiar characters (i.e. Harry, etc.) pop back up, which just reinforces the relationship readers have with the characters when they've read from the Yada Yada series and on.

The Promise by Beth Wiseman

I will never forget a good friend of mine recommending Beth Wiseman's book. I enjoyed her writing so much that I have not missed a book she has written since then. She is very impressive as an author because she can bridge so many different fiction genres, like Amish fiction and contemporary fiction.

This cover made me not certain if I'd like this book or not. It looked suspenseful, which I knew was included in the book. However, I was a little nervous at the amount of suspense I was going to be reading, since I'm not much of a suspenseful book lover.

The storyline for this book is AMAZING! I kind of cheated (because I do that) and read the author's note first. I like knowing how the author came to write this story before I read it because it helps me to put it into perspective. I'll say one thing about the author's note...DON'T MISS IT! Wow! The courage Beth had and her honesty in that section made this book even more unforgettable, in my opinion.

I didn't want to put this book down. It is suspenseful, but probably in a different way than you would normally think. Mallory Hammond is a determined girl who has to learn the hard way. It absolutely broke my heart to watch her chose this path for her life, not knowing the amount of fear and consequences she was going to experience. After reading the author's note, I think Mallory will become a dear character to every reader. Tate's selflessness is pretty amazing, too, especially as the reality of Mallory's situation began to hit.

This is a book that has been hard to set aside and forget about. After finishing it, I still find myself thinking about this scenario and wondering how many others have had to learn this lesson the hard way.

Dreaming on Daisies by Miralee Ferrell

The cover of this book was absolutely beautiful! I was looking forward to reading it just because the cover indicated a beautiful story that would be fun to read. I hadn't heard of Miralee Ferrell and was a little concerned about starting on book 3 in a series. I am always hesitant to do that because I'm not certain if it's going to be a book where I really needed to read the ones before it in order to understand where this book picks up. Rest easy that this book is one that you an pick up and be okay starting in book 3. I'm sure the first two books added a lot of information that would have bee helpful, but I never felt lost with the characters or the plot.

If I had to sum up the characters in one word, I would say: real. Each character had good things and bad things. So many issues were brought up that had to be dealt with. For Leah, she had to grieve over her mom's death. Not only that, but her dad became a man that she didn't even know. In fact, to mention her father leads to so much emotion, frustration, and hurt.

Steven is that night in shining armor, I think! He had such a huge heart and much compassion. His life isn't void of real, hard situations either, though. I really enjoyed this sweet story involving both of them.

Now that I've taken this journey through Oregon, I might need to read the first two books since I enjoyed this one so much!

Where Treetops Glisten by Tricia Goyer, Cara Putman, & Sarah Sundin

As soon as I saw these three authors together in the same book, I knew this was going to be an enjoyable book. These are some of my top authors and they did not disappoint me at all. Each author titled the name of their section by a name of a well-known Christmas carol. Of course, that had me singing those songs for while!

This is a Christmas book, but it's thoroughly enjoyable any time of the year. There are three stories that focus on Christmas during World War II. The Turner family has seen a lot of tragedy, but thanks to their grandma, she insists on doing what she can to still celebrate Christmas.

Each author focuses their story on a different member of the Turner family. Cara Putman tells Abigail's story of letting loss go and moving forward with life. Fear of having her heart broken again sends fear throughout her life and she has to make the decision to face her fear.

Sarah Sundin focuses on Pete. Pete hasn't always made the best choices. He has learned that despite a changed life, his sin still has consequences. He has to prove to people that he's not the same man he once was. As a side note, his relationship with sweet, little Linnie and his patience with her "handful" personality is so sweet. I wanted him to be Linnie's new dad!

Tricia Goyer wraps up the story of the Turner family by following Meredith, better known as "Merry." She's a nurse and has been placed in the frontline of the war. She will see and experience much sadness, but God prepares her to help her go forward in life. It isn't easy, but you get to see the beautiful story of God's redemption played out.

In the busyness of the holiday season, grab this book and settle up on the couch for some quiet moments spent with a wonderful book!

The Brickmaker's Bride by Judith Miller

I enjoyed reading the history that fills the pages in this book. I can honestly say that I knew nothing about brickmaking and all that went into it. It was honestly something I never thought about until now that I've read this book.

Besides the history, another thing I enjoyed about this book was that Ewan was an immigrant from Ireland. As part of my family history, my great-great grandparents came over from Ireland and began a new life here. I'm a sucker for pretty much any book about Ireland or the Irish!

Those two things aside, I would have liked this book anyway. The characters were so easy to love and I was rooting for Ewan and Laura. I wanted them to throw way the past, trust each other, and not let society dictate their relationship. Of course, that's easy for me to say now where we don't have that particular kind of pressure.

I like Judith Miller and really enjoy seeing how her books are different from each other. This is a beautiful story and you can so clearly see God working in their lives.

Saved by the Fireman by Allie Pleiter

I read my first book in this series a little while ago and really enjoyed it. It was a sweet story that I haven't forgotten. Gordon Falls is a charming small town that is a lot of fun to imagine.

This book is a romance book, so readers should definitely expect a love story. It's sweet, even if it is a little predictable. It's good when you kind of know where a book is going but it still keeps your interest.

Charlotte's grandmother was a lady who saw fit to use her money living life, not just to meet daily needs. When she passes and Charlotte is left with money from her grandmother, it come at a time when she's lost her job. Common sense tells her to use that to pay bills. She knows her grandmother wouldn't have been happy with that and would have wanted her to live and enjoy life.

Who couldn't like Jesse? He is innovative and not afraid to take chances. He doesn't let it bother him when people question his choices that don't seem to make sense to others. I liked watching his relationship grow with Charlotte.

This is a nice, sweet, short book that is perfect for a car ride or doctor's office visit!

The Daughter of Highland Hall by Carrie Turansky

I have somehow missed the first book of this series. I haven't read anything by Carrie Turansky and was so surprised that I had not seen her books. Now that I've read this book, though, I doubt I'll be missing her books anymore. In fact, I think I have some catching up to do!

I like reading books in this era because life was so drastically different then from what it is today. Not that I'd like to live in it, though, because of all the societal pressures. This is exactly what Katharine Ramsey is feeling. She doesn't particularly want to join the high society, but she has no other choice.

Kate's aunt drove me nuts. She was absolutely horrible to Kate in the way she spoke to her. I was glad Jon was there to help soften some of the after effects of her aunt's words. I know he wasn't in her class, but I really wanted them to forge ahead with a relationship.

Kate's attitude made me laugh. Her entire presentation before the king, queen, and princess made me laugh because I felt like I could have totally done those same things myself! I wanted her to follow her heart and not all of the rules.

I'm looking forward to reading the next book in this series that comes out in October 2015. Wait.... that a whole year away!!

Love's Fortune by Laura Frantz

I have enjoyed every Laura Frantz book I have read so far. This series is probably one of my favorites, even though I can't put my finger on why I like it so much. It could be that I like the era and she does a great job of making her books fit the historical time period.

Oh how I liked Wren with her simple desires. Not that she's a simple person, by any means. She just prefers the more simple lifestyle verses the one she's now being thrown into. Wren was someone who was easy to relate to. I know I've had situations where I didn't feel comfortable being myself in certain environments and even of not being accepted. I think that's why this book will resonate with so many people.

The other part of Wren that I could relate to is her love for music. Being a musician, I can't imagine having to set it aside and stifle my love for it some.

A relationship between James and Wren would be most difficult. They both have to guard their hearts because they are not in each other's class of society. Wren ultimately has to decide if she wants her life to reflect the wishes of others and their long list of rules or if she wants to pave her own path and follow her heart.

Quilted by Christmas by Jodie Bailey

So this book intrigued me for three reasons. 1) I can relate to the title because I have a quilt to finish for Christmas. 2) The book is about Christmas. 3) I have read most of the books in the series and have enjoyed them all.

I always have to comment on the covers that are so beautifully done and this is no exception. The book cover matches the whole Christmas theme perfectly and I think it catches the book buyers eye. Who can turn down a Christmas tree on the cover during the upcoming season?

The story inside is just as beautiful as the cover. Forgiveness and second chances and having the courage to share a deep secret is theme of this book. Taryn and Justin had loved each other until a choice Justin makes tears them apart. Somehow Taryn has to come to grips with unconditional love. She has to understand God's unconditional love and even Justin's unconditional love. That glimpse of unconditional love just might be realized through a quilt.

It's always so interesting to see the role a quilt plays in each book. No two books in this series are the same.

Angels Walking by Karen Kingsbury

This is probably the first book by Karen Kingsbury that I wasn't as excited to read at first. Normally I'm so excited she has a book coming out but the title of this book left me thinking I may not like it. However, I just can't pass up one of her books, so like the fan I am, I decided to read it.

From the title, I assumed this may be a book about angels and I just figured I wouldn't be into that. Scripture talks about angels, but people like to use their own imaginations to make angels do more and be more than Scripture talks about. I figured that would be the case since this is a fiction book.

After the first chapter, I still had some reservations. But by the second chapter, I was hooked and knew this was still the same Karen Kingsbury. Of course, the angels conversation was made up, but the way things worked together was something each of us experience in our own lives. It leaves us saying, "Wow. God worked it all perfectly, without me." This was the same scenario played out in the pages of this book.

I liked how you clearly saw the problem, but just like in our lives, you couldn't see how the solution would be presented and how the relationships would be mended. It was a beautiful picture of God's grace in a man's life that had run so far from God.

And this is just the beginning.... the true story has to deal with a child yet to be born.... Now I'm definitely excited about this series and reading the next one in that will be coming out.

Joyful by Shelley Shepard Gray

I feel like with each Amish book I read, I become a part of that community. The same goes with Sugarcreek. This quaint community is one full of people who have to make hard choices, put others first, and even be put in hard situations. One thing not lacking is love and support.

I'll admit that I was a bit surprised that Elizabeth agreed to a certain plan at the beginning of the book. She had to lay down a lot of pride. I'm not certain I would have been that way! (Sometimes books reveal the ugly side of us, don't they?!) At first, I disliked Randall within the first few chapters. Once I understood his perspective, though, I came to like him.

Shelley Shepard Gray has written a wonderful 3rd book in this series. I have enjoyed each one so far. You can easily read them separately and be okay with not reading them in order. Although, if you liked this book, you'll like the first two.

I also like the cover of this book. Great job using such beautiful, contrasting colors. The red barn in the back was the perfect choice.

A Love Undone by Cindy Woodsmall

I know this book isn't part of a series, but it does keep with some familiar people like Levi and Sadie. The book opens on a heavy note. It's heart-wrenching and the timing couldn't be worse. It's amazing how I came to like a couple so much in just one short chapter.

Cindy Woodsmall has written another beautiful story. The characters are very well-developed and the tension is caused by what they want but can't have. Not only that, there's a rumor that threatens to destroy their reputations. After all the Jolene has given up for her family, I wanted it to be her time to find love.

Jolene had to overcome fears, and understandably so. She doesn't do her job begrudgingly or have regrets, but she does need to express herself. When Andy comes along, she has no problem speaking her mind and sharing her fears. There's only one problem. He's married.... but his wife has left him and his son. Despite their desire to be together, they can't.

Andy was a sweet man, although I wanted to bop him in the head at first to get him to understand why in the world Jolene was reading a book in the middle of working with horses. Glen was one of those characters that I liked at some times and disliked at others. I was glad for him by the ending, though.

I am looking forward to seeing more books from Cindy Woodsmall.

A May Bride by Meg Moseley

If you're looking for a short beach read, grab this book. Meg Moseley writes a charming story with such a sweet wedding. Ellie and Gray had a funny first meeting that made me laugh just imagining it. Gray knew what he wanted and Ellie wasn't afraid to take chances. However, in order for Ellie to step out meant she wouldn't always be pleasing her mother.

Ellie has saved for her wedding just so her mom doesn't have a say in wedding plans. Ellie wants to prove to her mother that she's not her and that she can make smart decisions. Her relationship with her mother is one that her mother controls. Ellie walks a delicate line of trying to please her, yet become her own person.

Gray pushes Ellie out of her comfort zone with her mother and helps her find the strength to cut the apron strings. It's not easy, but is necessary. Ellie's also the one that usually helps her sister when she needs help. Conflict arises when these issues must be dealt with.

I like this short, fun books in the series. They are quick to read, but still leave me thinking about the characters after the book has been completed.

Tried and True by Mary Connealy

I am definitely excited to see where this series is going to go! I really enjoyed Book One in the new series, Wild at Heart. I like Mary Connealy. She writes with humor and some unexpected twists. I wouldn't say the twists are earth-shattering and change the direction of the story, but it keeps the story interesting and the reader engaged. I thought I had it figured out a few chapters from the end, but was a little surprised that I was wrong!

 

The Wilde sisters are each interesting in their own ways. Their father has definitely not treated them like girls so they almost don't even remember how to live like one. My favorite sister would have to be Shannon, with her dear love for sheep. The things she does for them were quite funny.

 

Kylie had a desire for what most girls do..... to live in civilization and not cut wood or do what was considered "man's work" in the West. She wanted someone else to repair her roof and build her cabin. I liked her determined attitude to make the best of a situation she hated, though.

 

Bailey was the one that I had to grow to like. She had a tougher personality and wasn't one that is liked at the beginning. I'm hoping her complete story gets told. I'm sure some of it has to do with what she saw in the war.

 

Some of my favorite moments included Aaron and the 3 sisters. They roped him into things he thought he'd never agree to. It was funny to imagine his interactions with the Wilde sister and how much enjoyment he received out of simply calling them "girls."

 

I look forward to see Matt Tucker and Shannon Wilde discover what's in the future for both of them! Now and Forever is due out in June of 2015.

A Light in the Wilderness by Jane Kirkpatrick

Not much is more relaxing after a long day than opening a book and taking a time travel back to the 1800's. I know the time was tough, but I enjoy the history found in most of Jane Kirkpatrick's books. She makes history come alive with her rich research and grand storytelling.

I might have been a bit partial to Davey with him being Irish. I was glad that he had compassion on Letitia. I can't imagine the restrictions back then on being a minority or immigrant and what they faced if they broke the "rules" and fell in love.

Letitia never fell into "victim" mode. Instead, in my opinion, she embraced the unfairness and chose to make the best of it. She was courageous and bold. As I was reading, I kept thinking of how I don't think I could be so bold. She was never truly accepted anywhere. Not by her government, not by society. I liked how close her friendship was with one other lady.

This book left me stuck in the 1800s for a little time afterwards because I couldn't stop thinking about it. The cover is beautiful too!

The Desire by Dan Walsh and Gary Smalley

Dan Walsh has become one of my favorite authors. He reminds me so much of Nicholas Sparks. I love it because I feel like I've read a wholesome story without having to censor anything. Gary Smalley won me over when he wrote with Karen Kingsbury. He brought her first Baxter series to life and I loved the issues that they dealt with.

The story itself is a little predictable, but that doesn't matter to me. There was so much depth in the characters and their issues. That's where the real story lies.... with the real life problems that each character faces.

So many people can relate very easily to the journey that Allan and Michelle are on. And Korah is a place that understandably weighs heavy on Allan's heart. I was glad that Michelle got to go along on the trip with him. I liked watching God work in their heats and relationship. I know it's fiction, but I know this is a real life situation that raises many questions that those in this situation deal with.

I also liked Christina. I can't imagine the decision she has to make, but I loved the love that Marilyn and Jim poured out on her. What a way to spend their empty nesting years. I want to be that!

I am looking forward to Doug's story. I'm secretly hoping that Christina and Doug will be together.

An April Bride by Lenora Worth

An April Bride is a fast read that is a sweet romance book. I expected the ending to be like it was, but it didn't distract from my opinion of the book. It was a sweet story of two people who truly did love each other, but one of them needed to choose to remember the worst day of his life in order to experience the best day of his life.

I liked Stella's desire to go forward with the wedding without knowing if Marshall would ever remember her and what they had together. I also admired her decision she made so close to their wedding day.

Marshall is a true gentleman, right down to the fact that he would marry a girl that he had made a promise to, but couldn't remember. He knew he wanted to love her and trusted that God would one day help him remember. If God didn't do that, he knew he could at least one day fall in love with her again.

Looking forward to the next one in this series!

In Perfect Time by Sarah Sundin

Sarah Sundin is one of my top favorite authors for historical fiction. I have really enjoyed each one of her books and they keep getting better and better. This series, the Wings of Nightingale, focuses on WWII and the Air Force.

Kay Johnson is a flight nurse and she has a bit of a wild side. She is known for the way she spends her time at night and the string of men she has. I liked the imperfection of Kay and Roger. I did laugh a little at some of the ways he tried to avoid her.

I am amazed at how she makes history come alive and so incredibly interesting. Her research is so thorough and at times, intense with action, but it never feels like I'm reading a history book. I'm convinced she can take any point in history and come up with an incredible fiction book based on historical facts.

I'm sad that this is the end of this series. I like how each of the characters are weaved together in some way and you get different glimpses of the story based on which book you are reading. She is easily able to recap what happened without making it obvious that she is doing so.

Can't wait to see what she has in store next!

Sarah Sundin is one of my top favorite authors for historical fiction. I have really enjoyed each one of her books and they keep getting better and better. This series, the Wings of Nightingale, focuses on WWII and the Air Force.

Kay Johnson is a flight nurse and she has a bit of a wild side. She is known for the way she spends her time at night and the string of men she has. I liked the imperfection of Kay and Roger. I did laugh a little at some of the ways he tried to avoid her.

I am amazed at how she makes history come alive and so incredibly interesting. Her research is so thorough and at times, intense with action, but it never feels like I'm reading a history book. I'm convinced she can take any point in history and come up with an incredible fiction book based on historical facts.

I'm sad that this is the end of this series. I like how each of the characters are weaved together in some way and you get different glimpses of the story based on which book you are reading. She is easily able to recap what happened without making it obvious that she is doing so.

Can't wait to see what she has in store next!
